Notable Landerholm, P.S. Case: K&S Developments v. City of SeaTac

Attorney Contact(s): Bradley W. Andersen or Phillip J. Haberthur

On January 25, 2016, after a three-month trial, a King County jury awarded $9,589,703.00 against the City of SeaTac in favor of a company (K&S Developments) owned by Gerald and Kathryn Kingen, who also own Salty’s Seafood Grills. The jury found SeaTac violated K&S’s property rights when it blocked K&S’s attempts to build a park-and-fly garage at the 154th Street Station Area off Highway 518. With interest and fees, the judgment totaled over $18.3 million; a new Washington State record for land use jury verdicts.
